It's November which means if you have kids, they've been in school for a few months now, which also means you probably have a pile of art work and other papers that piling up that you haven't had the heart to recycle. What can I say? I'm totally with you. Since Max started preschool he's been coming home with pieces of paper with numbers or scribbles (that are apparently "maps") and the work is adding up. You can only cover so much of your house before it becomes a fire hazard right?
So here's my solution - since I'm not one for scrap-booking and I honestly don't have the time to organize and save each piece, I found an app that will do it for me! (Yup, there's an app for that!)
I've started using ARTKIVE to save each lovely piece Max makes. Eventually I can print it out as a book, which is awesome, but here are some of my favorite features:
- Add Grandma and Grandpa's email and share entire albums or individual pieces with them instantly.
- Quickly add notes or comments on each piece before saving it.
- Have multiple children, their age and grade set up on one account to both share and save.
- It's affordable! For the first 20 pages it's about $25 and $1 a page after that (which yes, could definitely get pricey, but if you make a collection of your favorite pieces over one school year, it shouldn't be too much.)
- They make the book for you, no worries, no "how do I lay this out?" they put the book in chronological order for you and you simply select the cover art.
- And my favorite - Schools can sign up and give out a code for parents to use, each time they purchase a book some of the proceeds go back to the school!!
So have you used anything like this before? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I'm also curious as to how you could use this service to do other things, like create a scrapbook of your travels or display your photography. What do you think?
