cork stampers

Cork Stampers :
What to do with all those left over corks.

There are so many crafts you can do with corks, but this is one of my favorites. I made these with found objects from around the house and a box of corks I got at the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse. (I only wish we had this many wine corks lying around.)

 materials:

stamp pad
corks
hot glue gun
miscellaneous objects for your stamp (items with a flat back work best)

get to work:

1. Put the kids to work. Go on a scavenger hunt for materials that might make good stamps. I found pennies, a lego, an old earring, some Australian dollars, an elephant shaped stone and a button. Anything small with a flat back should work. Let them try a few different things to experiment.

2. Adults only : take the hot glue gun and glue each piece to a cork. (A word of advice: coins seem to require more glue, so really stick it on there!)

3. Begin stamping!

Max's favorite stamp was the lego stamp.  I like the little circles it makes.

As you can see, not all the stamps worked so well. The more detailed ones, like the coin and the elephant stone came out more like little blobs. However the button, earring and red thing (honestly I don't know what it is) worked really well.

 God save the Queen.
