I have a drawer full of blank cards that I compulsively buy (who can pass up the dollar deals at Target?) and rarely use. This project puts those extra cards to use by making mini notebooks for kids. They're simple and easy to make and perfect little books for scribbles or letter writing practice!

a two year old's birthday

Our lovely and adorable son Max is turning two in two weeks. Since he loves getting messy and art, we've decided to let him and his friends go to town painting and coloring at a party in the park. In preparation for this little "art party," my husband Joe and I have been experimenting with decoration ideas.

In the next two weeks I'm going to drop a preview here and there and then I'll show you how it all turned out (something tells me it's going to be fun, but a bit on the messy side).

Here's a center piece idea I'm toying with, perhaps it will inspire some ideas for your toddler's party!

We made paper flowers and tied them to branches we found on a nature walk to make a cool display.

Ok that was lame. But here are the projects I'm pinterested (can't help myself) this week:

• I love this idea for a tattoo parlor at your kid's birthday. It would even be great for school carnivals and, let's just say it, parties for grown ups. 

• Until I started taking a pottery class, I assumed making a ceramic bowl wasn't that hard. Now I realize that even adults could benefit from a pared down, simpler version like these colorful clay balls from MashiaCrafts. 

• I can't help but think, this tent idea is going to make a debut at my son's 2nd birthday party. What a great place for the kids to chill in the park after all that cake!

• These paper lanterns have inspired me to do more work with wheat paste. 

• Finally this cardboard chair has inspired my husband to never drop the amazon box in the recycling again, that is, until the cardboard chair has been thoroughly played with.
