A two week vacation

We've been out of town for two weeks now and with all the travel fun I've had little time to update. That being said I do have a few must haves for any trip you take with a toddler and a felt project my brother and sister in law bought for Max.

(I'm updating from my phone, pardon the format)

travel must haves:

1. Squares of paper/origami paper- perfect for drawing on and making airplanes, hats, or even attempting that crazy folding project they have in the Southwest Air magazine.

2. Thin books/e-reader - keeping them entertained without resorting to watching videos on your phone, without taking up too much space.

3. Things they never get to play with at home- this is obviously at your discretion, but we chose paper clips. Max linked them together, put them on his paper airplanes and was entertained by the sheer newness of them.

4. A small map - a toddler might not get the concept of a map, but you can do several things here. My grandmother used to put marks on the map and when you reached that place on the map that indicated a special snack, a toy, or a coloring activity. When you get to, say Cleveland you get to eat your treat, or open a toy.

5. Healthy snacks and treats- I like to layer healthy snacks on top of treats in a tupperware so that once Max has eaten all the healthier snacks he can have a small treat like a few chocolate chips.

6. Reusable grocery bag - I find when traveling with a toddler, taking the diaper bag along is just too much work. So instead I stuff a reusable (eh hem and fashionable)  grocery bag into my suitcase and when we arrive I use that instead of the bulky diaper bag.
