watercolor magic wands
9.27.2012
Both the girls and boys were drooling over these wands. I made the example one a few days ago and since then they've asked me if we could make them everyday this week.
Well today is their lucky day! I thought star wands would be a nice way to wrap up our shapes week and the kids seem to agree!
materials:
chop sticks
watercolor
paint brushes
water color paper cut into star shapes
glue
small cup of water (to rinse brush)
get to work:
1. Begin by giving each child two stars (make sure they align with one another), watercolor and paint brush. Allow them to decorate each star.
2. Once their stars are complete, put them aside and let them paint the chop stick. (You might want to put a book or hang the stars up to dry so that they dry flat with no curled edges).
3. Allow all pieces to dry.
4. Assemble the wand by gluing the stars together with the chop stick in between.
5. If you want you can add ribbon and sparkles to make it even fancier!
