Collections

If your child is anything like mine, they have a 'collection'. Max's collection consists of rocks, sticks and acorns that he's gathered on walks around our neighborhood. Occasionally he'll bring home a pile of leaves, which I'll display in a bowl on our coffee table for a short time.

What better way to celebrate your child's 'collection', whatever it may be, than making a special space for it? Treasure boxes can make scraps of paper and stickers feel even more special, mason jars can display rocks and leaves in a decorative manner and homemade folders can keep even their most precious artworks safe.

Here are a few ways your child may store their 'collection'. (Psst - the best part is, this keeps everything contained!)

materials:
mason jar, old jewelry box, small bowl (virtually anything you can find to display the collection)
collection materials
crayons/paint/markers/stickers etc.

get to work:
1. Have your child gather your collection.
2. Find the appropriate sized container for the collection.
3. Decorate the container if possible.
4. Display/store the collection in the container.

*Even something as simple as finding a nice dish to display their collection can be interesting. Max arranges and rearranges his rocks that sit on a small dish. To me it's the kid's equivalent of a zen garden.
