Hoodoos

What exactly is a 'hoodoo', you might ask. Aside from a great word that makes kids giggle, a hoodoo is a geological term for those tall spires of rocks, that look like they might fall at any minute. You know the precarious looking ones. We made our own hoodoos while visiting Flandrau Science Center in Arizona. It's a fun balancing act, you try to stack up the rocks, or in our case foam rocks, as high as you can without them falling. Max worked on his for quite some time, running back and forth, trying to pick up the rocks twice his size and balance them on top of one another. It was pretty entertaining.

Now that we're home, I'm digging into his collection to help him build some mini hoodoos. To make it even more fun, we're going to paint them too. A colorful, mini hoodoo for your Tuesday!

materials:
5-10 rocks, preferably flat (you most likely wont use all of them)
glue (hot glue if you want it to go faster)
acrylic paint
paint brush

get to work:
1.Begin by painting the rocks.
2. Once the rocks have dried, practice stacking them.
3. Finally glue the stack together that stands up the best.

Our own little hoodoo.
