Marbling is an easy way to make Eric Carle style animals with little fuss.
materials:
white paper (printer paper will do)
scissors
water
shallow tin or cookie sheet
glue
get to work:
1. Begin by cutting out the parts of the butterfly. I chose a butterfly, you can go for any animal you'd like. The important part is that you cut into individuals parts.
2. Fill the tin with just enough water to cover the bottom.
3. Choose which colors you want start with and drop a few drops of each bottle into the water.
4. If you want you can use a comb, knife or chopstick to work your way through the water, making various patterns. Try not to stir the water as this typically blends the colors into one.
5. Dip one piece of paper into the water for about 2-3 seconds, just enough to saturate the paper. Take it out and lay it flat to dry.
6. Rinse your tin and begin steps 2-5 again until complete.
7. Once the shapes are dry you can glue them together to make your butterfly!
