I'm not a huge fan of shark week. It's kitschy and funny, which has its appeal, but it seems to lack actual facts when it comes to educating anyone on sharks and as a bona fide nerd, that annoys me.
That said, one of my coworkers made this project with the kids last week and it was too cute not to pass along.

Paper Shark Puppet
materials:
long white envelope
scissors
tape/glue
colored pencils/markers
glitter (if you want to go the extra mile)
get to work:
1. Begin by trimming off a small strip from one end of the envelope.
2. Next cut a triangle out of the other end of the envelope.
3. You can take the extra pieces you cut off and use those to make a dorsal fin and tail or other fins.
4. Now attach the dorsal fin to the top of the envelope.
5. Decorate the shark with the pencils and glitter.
6. Stick your arm through the back end of the "shark" and ta da - you have a lovely shark puppet.
