It seems like we've been feeling quite a few aches and pains around here. Perhaps from this cold that's going around, or maybe just from all the activity that the weekends bring. To ease our sore muscles we made some quick rice heat packs. Which got me thinking - buy a few pairs of cute socks, fill them with rice and you've got some quick and easy presents for kids to make!
Check out the totally self explanatory "how to"
materials:socks (make sure they are made from natural materials i.e. cotton)
rice (basmati, jasmine, you choose)
sewing machine (optional)
get to work:
1. Fill the sock with rice, about 3 cups for a long sock and 1 1/2 for a smaller sock. Don't pack it in too tightly.
2. Tie a knot at the top of the sock. Write Grandma and Grandpa a quick note and you're done!
Alternative
Once you've filled the sock, sew the end closed. Then write your note to Grandma and Grandpa!
Heating Instructions
Be sure to include heating instructions with your sock. 60 - 90 seconds seems to work best. Make sure you don't over heat it or the rice will start to cook and your sock will smell!
