Witch's Brew

Let's cook up a little Halloween fun while making the whole house smell great! Remember the witches scene from Macbeth? Y'know "double double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble?" Yeah that one. Well we scaled it down a bit for kids (who might not quite be ready for Macbeth), with a combination of this book and a crock pot.

Witch's Brew

Materials:
crock pot
wooden spoon
1 orange
1 apple
1 lemon
4 cinnamon sticks
2 tbs of whole cloves
2 tbs allspice

Get to work:
1. Read Room on the Broom with your child.

2. Gather the ingredients. Depending on the child's age and abilities, you might want to let them cut up the oranges/apples/lemon. Otherwise have them pre-cut and waiting.

3. Place all the ingredients into a crock pot. As you do name each item you put in. Then fill with water.

4. Using a wooden spoon have your child stir the pot and say the witch's magic spell:
Iggity, Ziggity, Zaggity, Zooooom!

5. Turn the crock pot on low and let simmer with the lid off. As it simmers your house will be filled with the loveliest aroma!

6. Continue to add a little water as needed.

PS
If you can't get the book, you can have it read to you here:

More lovely scents for your witch's brew:

- Fresh cut basil and slices of citrus (oranges/lemons/limes)
- A few ticks of cinnamon and vanilla
- Pinch of nutmeg, dash of vanilla, sprig of rosemary and one lemon
