Nana-Nana-Nana-Nana BAT GARLAND! (Bat Template PDF Included)

My sister Moriah is on a roll this week!
Check out her latest project:

Need a last minute DIY Halloween decoration for your photo ledge or mantel? Of course you do! These simple bats make anything look festive, even if you're just decorating for your 2-year old and husband, like me.

Materials:

printing paper
pencil
black card stock (or construction paper)
scissors
small hole punch
string (I used orange hemp crafter's cord, but any sturdy string in any color will do)
tape for hanging

Get to work:
1. Print the bat template PDF and cut out the 3 bats to use as a template. White card stock works best because it's thick, but if you just have plain printer paper, that will do fine. Make sure to hole punch the circles on the template so you can mark them when tracing.

2. Depending on the size of photo ledge or mantel will determine how many bats you need. In the photo, I have a small 3' photo ledge that I was decorating, so a large bat for the center and two medium bats for the outsides did the trick. I included a small sized bat in the PDF for larger projects. I like the idea of starting out with a large bat in the center and going smaller as you work your way out on either side, but you can line up your bats any way you like. So get tracing with a pencil, cutting with scissors, and hole punching those bats onto the black card stock.

3. When all the bats are cut out and hole punched, start stringing your bats. Make sure to insert the string in the left wing and have it come out the right wing so the string is behind the bat and not in front. A little tip: tape the string to the back of the bats, otherwise the string will come up and show by their heads.

4. Hang with tape onto the photo ledge or mantel and walla! Bat garland complete.
