Summer Camp Week 2: Paint on the Windows

Here's one of those big, "messy" outdoor paint projects I was talking about yesterday - painting on the windows. Every time we visit our local children's museum I watch kids paint on their plexiglass wall and think "I need one of those!" Then I realized I don't need to install a plexigalss wall, I have windows!

This past weekend Max's friend Maia came over and I gave them a brush, some paint and let them get to work. They had quite a bit of fun painting the windows, and I had very little clean up in the end. All in all I'd say it was a win, win.

Check out the "how to" for a few extra tips...

Painting on the Windows

materials:
tempera paint
paint brushes
spray bottle filled with water
sponges
glass doors/windows
garbage bag

get to work:
1. Begin by laying out the garbage bag where you kids will be painting/standing. It doesn't really matter what you use, this is just a precaution to prevent paint from getting on your patio or anywhere outside that you want to keep clean.

2. Begin painting on the window. (This should obviously be done on the outside of the house, unless you're really cool with messes.)

3. Use the spray bottle to clean off the paint and the sponge to wipe down the area. (You could also use an old towel to dry the window before painting again.)

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3.

We had fun letting one person stand on the other side of the window and painting mustaches on their face. The possibilities are really endless, just have fun with it.

I think they enjoyed spraying and scrubbing the windows more than painting on them!

Joe so graciously let me paint a mustache on him. Pretty good look for a man who has trees growing out of his eyebrows.
