Sandpaper Iron-Ons

Start your summer off by making some super easy (and cheap) iron-on tees, or capes in our case. We customized this cape in about ten minutes and then Max ran around watering the garden as "the Super Friendly Monster!"

materials:
sand paper (220 weight)
crayons
iron
t-shirt (white or light colored)
cardboard

get to work:
1. Begin by having your child draw a picture on the sand paper.

2. Set the iron to a low heat.

3. Lay out the t-shirt on a flat surface and place the cardboard inside the shirt.

4. Lay the sand paper drawing side down and iron the the sheet for about 30 seconds. Pull up one edge and check your transfer, if you want you can continue pressing for another 10-30 seconds.

5. Once you're finished you can toss the shirt in the dryer (by itself) for 20 minutes and then wash regularly (though you probably want to wash it alone the first time).
