top image: Where's Walrus by Stephen Savage
I buy books for their covers. It's true. I admit it. I also have a list I keep of illustrators whose work I love and often look for books by illustrator more than by author. Maybe not the type of confession your were looking for, but it's true and it's a good opportunity for me to introduce you to a few illustrators whose work really brings to life the stories they tell.
Aka the illustrator who brought to life the Lemony Snicket's characters in A Series of Unfortunate Events.
You probably know this book and her other book Goodnight Gorilla, but did you know that Ten Minutes Till Bedtime takes place in the same neighborhood and at the same time as the events in Goodnight Gorilla?
You can also find an art activities based on different illustrators, including Donald Crews, here.
Stephen Savage is the illustrator of Margaret Wise Brown's new book The Father's Are Coming Home - that's an illustrator-author combo you can't help but love.
