Finger Puppet Rockets

Let's face it, space is awesome. We've recently become a little space obsessed around here. Max and I like to look at Col. Chris Hadfield's tumblr feed in the morning. I'll ask him if he can tell where the land is and where the sea is, or we'll talk about where the picture was taken above (he's kinda into continents right now too). Needless to say we're well overdue for a space craft (no pun intended), which is why I whipped up a few rocket finger puppets.

This is a good craft for older children and a quick project for parents to make for their younger child.

PS
Yes, the spaceship depicted above really is flying away from Neptune, it's a futuristic spaceship and can make the 4.3 billion kilometers trip easy.

materials:
white & black felt
glue/glue gun
scissors
marker
mesh fruit wrapping

get to work:

1. Begin by folding the felt in half and drawing the outline of your spaceship on to the felt.

2. Cut out your ship.

3. Cut a small piece of the mesh and glue it to the bottom of both felt pieces. Let dry.

4. Once the mesh has dried, put glue on the edges of one spaceship outline, skipping the bottom. Place the second outline on top of the first. Let dry.

5.  Now you're ready to decorate. Use the black felt to make windows, the cone at the top of the ship etc.

6. Stick it on your finger and fly to the moon!
