Do you have any Halloween traditions? Now that Max is 2 this will be the first year we go trick or treating and he has any clue what's going on. So I thought this would be the perfect time to start some Halloween traditions at home. Our tradition thus far is to dress him and his friends up in a group costume. Last year they were the Justice League and this year they'll be Star Wars characters (Max is R2-D2)!
For our family tradition I was thinking we'd read a spooky story the night before Halloween. Of course, 2 isn't exactly the age where you want to get too scary, so I found a story I loved as a child, "Strange Bumps" by Arnold Lobel, author of the Frog and Toad stories. It's not terribly scary, but I found it rather spooky when I was young!
When Max gets older I hope we can read some Poe or perhaps The Witches' Spell from Macbeth.
I'd love to hear what your Halloween traditions are!
PS - A classic re-telling of a classic.
