Squash Blossoms

Have you ever seen a squash blossom? They are these beautiful yellow flowers that are both delicious to eat and lovely in the garden. It's hard to believe that from these delicate blossoms, pumpkins and other squash will grow! Before we dive into too many pumpkin/jack o lantern projects, we decided we'd start at the beginning and make some squash blossoms. Wont you join us?

Read on for the "how to"...

Squash Blossoms

materials:
5 inch squares of yellow tissue paper
12 inches of green tissue paper
hole punch
brown paper

get to work:

1. Making the flowers is easy, simply make a very small "o" with your hand. Place the yellow tissue paper over the "o" and gently push the middle of the paper through the "o." As your flower forms take the bottom of the flower, pinch it, and twist it. You're all set!

2. Now punch a hole in your paper and slip the bottom of the flower through the hole.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you're satisfied.

4. Take the long green tissue paper and twist it into a long vine. Then tuck the ends into the small holes you punched for the flowers.
