What are your plans for the 4th of July? I know it's a week away, but we're getting in the spirit over here and getting ready to celebrate another year of our nation's independence, and fireworks, isn't really just about fireworks now?
So with that let's finish up our "paint" themed week with a firework painting. Next week we'll be up to more themed projects, I'm debating between space and science. What do you think??
Firework Paintings
materials:
pipe cleaners
tempera paint
scissors
construction paper
glue
get to work:
1. Take about four pipe cleaners and cut them in halves or thirds. Then, holding all the pieces together, twist the tops leaving about an inch of pipe cleaner at the bottom. Bend the bottom pieces of pipe out making a asterisk like shape.
2. Dip the pipe cleaner into the paint and stamp your fireworks onto your paper.
3. When you're finished stamping, take a separate sheet of paper (darker than the other piece) and cut out your skyline (you could also cut out a bridge, houses, etc.)
4. Glue your skyline to the lower half of the paper and let all the pieces dry.
*Try adding some sparkles to your paint to make your fireworks glimmer.
