Here's a simple one for you today - flower arranging. Now that Spring is here flowers are everywhere! Even if you live in an area that's still seeing snow, you can grab flowers at the market and make your place a little more "springy".
I'm usually the one in charge of flower arranging in our home, but yesterday I let Max do the arranging it was fun to see what arrangements he came up with...
materials:
flowers
variety of vases (I like save interesting looking jars from drinks and sauces to use for just this purpose!)
get to work:
1. Put out the jars for your child to choose from.
2. Lay the flowers out and tell them that they get to pick which jars they want to put the flowers in.
3. Let them get to work. If you want you can talk about the names of each flower as they work, or you can sit back and let them hone their "craft."
4. When they're finished, ask them where they'd like to display their creations. (Don't forget to put some water in the jars!)
Max really loved the ones with the little red "berries" at the top, which was a good time for me to remind him that flowers aren't for eating!
This is one of my favorite creations. Max placed one long leafy piece in an old sake bottle. Minimalist flower arranging, am I right?
