dreidel weaving
12.13.2012
It's our last day of Hanukkah projects! Next week we'll begin our Christmas projects and then I'll be taking a short hiatus while we travel and visit with friends and family. I'm dreaming of reading a good book, spending some time with my sisters and squeezing my sweet niece! Until then, let's wrap this week up. Dreidel weaving is an easy way for even the youngest of children to make a lovely Hanukkah craft while practicing their fine motor skills.
materials:
yarn
scissors
cardboard
get to work:
1. Begin by cutting out a large dreidel shape from the cardboard.
2. Cut small slits, about 1/2 inch deep, into the edges of the dreidel. (For younger children about 10 slits is good, for older children you can cute more slits).
3. Begin by tucking the yarn into one of the slits and pulling it over to another slit, tuck it in to this slit and then move on to another. Wrap the yarn around the front and back of the dreidel.
