fabric stamping

Remember when you were a kid and on the last day of school you had everyone sign your white t-shirt so that you could remember them? Ok maybe not everyone did that, but I'm sure at some point we've all made puff paint t-shirts or tried a hand at tie-dye. Needless to say decorating fabric is just one of those crafts that we've always got in our back pocket when we're in need of an idea.

Instead of t-shirts though, Max and I decorated tea towels with the stampers we made (remember these?). I figured since the tea towels are cheap (only $4 at Target for 3!) and in nice square shape, they can be used for so many things. Perhaps we'll use these ones to wrap up some baked goods or presents for his buddies or maybe we'll send them to the grandmas as a little "thinking of you" present. What do you think? How will you use yours?

 materials:

white tea towels
fabric paint and palette
cardboard
stampers

get to work:

1. Lay one towel over the cardboard.

2. Pour a small amount of paint onto your palette and dip the stamper into it. Blot the stamper and make sure the paint is evenly distributed over the stamp before you begin.

3. Stamp away!

4. Let the paint dry and then follow washing instructions on the fabric paint bottle.
